BDN Workshop Series: Understanding the Dissertation Process

Description of the Workshop:

You decided to embark on your doctoral journey but don't fully know and understand what is required. Don't worry, you are not alone. The purpose of this workshop is to explain the process, answer questions, and give participants a high-level overview of the process to help them prepare and be successful. In this workshop, doctoral candidates will learn the importance of creating SMART goals and outlines, the difference between designs and methods, as well as what criteria to consider when selecting a chair and committee. Additionally, participants will create an account using reference management software and why an annotated bibliography is important when looking for the gap in research. Participants will also learn about the dissertation essential needed to complete their journey.

Presenter Bios:

Dr. Kym Grant-Horsey is the founder and CEO of dissertation Accountability Partners, LLC. Additionally, she is a Dissertation advisor for Gwynedd Mercy University. Grant-Horsey earned her doctorate from the University of Phoenix. Throughout her career, Dr. Kym was the first black women engineer for many of her work organizations. This accomplishment inspired her research Black American Women in STEM Finding Their Voice: An Ethnography Study.

Dr. Kym is an experienced dissertation coach with a demonstrated history of working with graduate students in the STEM and service industries.
